How to add a product or service in Books?

This process works in apps: TB Books, TB POS, TB Sync
This article will teach you how to create a catalog item with SKU, cost, and price so it is ready on quotes, work orders, and invoices.
Products & Services is the tenant catalog for tires, wheels, parts, and labor. Items you create here appear on POS Lite quotes, Sync local catalog searches, and every Books sales or purchase document. Accurate SKUs, costs, and tire rawSize (digits-only, e.g. 2055516) keep margin, inventory valuation, and size search reliable across apps.
Steps
- Go to Products & Services from the Books sidebar.
- Click New Product (or New Service for labor/fees).
- Enter SKU, description, brand, and size when applicable.
- Set cost and price (and tax settings per your shop).
- For tires, ensure rawSize is digits-only when the UI supports it — never rely on formatted size strings alone.
- Save the item.
- Open a test quote or Order Builder search to confirm the SKU appears and prices look correct.
Conclusion & best practices
Prefer one SKU per real part number; duplicates break inventory and reporting. Single-item creates may submit catalog suggestions for Tire Base review — bulk imports intentionally do not. After changing cost on a stocked item, expect average cost to move on the next receiving or adjustment, not instantly on old invoices.
