How to import products with Excel in Books?
TB Books · data-migration · Last updated August 17, 2026 · Version 1
This process works in apps: TB Books, TB Sync, TB WMS
This article will teach you how to bulk-load the product catalog (and optional on-hand qty) with the Data Migration wizard.
Organization Settings → Data Migration bulk-loads your product catalog from Excel/CSV — the same wizard Sync and WMS use. The flow is upload → map fields → review → import; there is no separate download-template-only path required to begin. When quantity and cost are mapped, Books posts inventory adjustments and a journal entry for inventory value.
Steps
- Go to Settings → Data Migration (Organization Settings).
- Under Imports, pick Product Catalog.
- Upload your Excel/CSV file.
- Map columns to Tire Base fields (MFG/part number, brand, size, description, cost, price, quantity, etc.).
- Review the preview row-by-row for obvious mapping mistakes.
- If you mapped Quantity, select the target wms-locations location and choose Update Only or Full Replace.
- Click Confirm & Import and wait until the job shows complete.
Conclusion & best practices
Mapped Quantity + Cost creates inventory adjustments and Books posts a JE for that value. Update Only is safer day-to-day; Full Replace can zero SKUs missing from the file. Bulk imports do not create Global Catalog recommendations — that is intentional to avoid flooding review queues.
