How to add a custom field on a product?

This process works in apps: TB Books, TB POS, TB Sync, TB WMS
This article will teach you how to create a tenant-only product field (text or dropdown) on Edit Product and optionally show it on B2B search cards.
Specs such as Load Index and Season come from the Global Catalog. A custom field is yours — for example Tire Type with NEW and USED. Values stay on your catalog product and are not sent to Global Catalog review.
Steps
- Open a product in Books → Products & Services (or Sync Inventory → Edit Specs, or WMS catalog). Specifications includes Custom Fields.
- Click + New field. Enter a name (for example Tire Type), choose Text or Dropdown, and pick whether it applies to Tires, Wheels, and/or Parts.
- For a dropdown, add the options (NEW, USED). Save field. The new input appears on matching products.
- Set the value on this product and click Save Product. The field is stored on your catalog item only.
- To show it on the B2B portal, open Sync → Sales Channels → the B2B portal → B2B Settings. Under Product Card Specs, check the custom field for Tires, Wheels, or Parts, then Save B2B Settings.
- Search the portal for a local catalog product that has a value. The card shows the label and value (for example Tire Type: USED).
- To stop using a field, Edit it from Custom Fields and choose Archive field. Existing values stay readable; the field is hidden when empty.
Conclusion & best practices
Custom fields do not become B2B search filters in this version, and they do not print on invoices or quotes. Vendor-feed rows with no matching local catalog product will not show a custom value. Related: How to choose the product name on B2B search cards?.
