This article will teach you how to create a person record linked to the right company account.
Contacts are people at an account — buyers, store managers, and owners you call or meet. Linking each person to the correct account keeps calls, tasks, and meeting invites on one timeline. Generic shop phone numbers are a fallback; direct mobile and email make follow-up actually reach the decision maker.
Steps
- Open Contacts, or navigate to an Account → Contacts tab.
- Click New Contact.
- Enter first/last name, direct phone, and work email.
- Link the contact to the correct account record.
- Add title or role notes (buyer, owner, service manager).
- Save the contact.
- Log a note or create a follow-up task from that contact when you reach out.
Conclusion & best practices
Prefer real direct dials and emails over generic shop lines when possible. Update titles when people change roles so deals do not stall on outdated buyers. Never create the same person twice under two accounts unless they truly work at both locations.
