How to convert a lead to an account in CRM?

This process works in apps: TB CRM
This article will teach you how to convert a qualified prospect so history carries into an account and contact.
Lead conversion creates (or maps to) an Account and Contact when a prospect is qualified — preserving tasks, notes, and source attribution. Converting once with clean mapping avoids duplicate accounts that are painful to merge later. Leads you will never pursue should be disqualified with a reason, not left open forever.
Steps
- Open the Lead record.
- Review notes and confirm the prospect is qualified.
- Choose Convert from the lead actions.
- Confirm the new Account and Contact field mapping.
- Resolve duplicate-account warnings if CRM detects a match.
- Finish conversion.
- Continue working from Accounts — create deals, tasks, and meetings on the account.
Conclusion & best practices
Convert once with clean mapping — duplicate accounts after a messy convert are hard to merge later. Disqualify leads you will never pursue so pipeline reports stay honest. Conversion should not discard call history — verify notes carried over.
