This process works in apps: TB CRM
This article will teach you how to capture a prospect, work the lead, and convert when they become an account.
Leads track prospects before they qualify as accounts — trade-show cards, web inquiries, cold targets, and businesses found via Google search on the Routes map (light-blue pins). Capturing source and contact details early improves conversion reporting and follow-up discipline. Leads should move quickly toward convert, disqualify, or a dated next step — parked leads rot and clutter forecasts.
Steps
- Open Leads from the CRM sidebar — or capture from Routes with Find on Google → Add as Lead.
- Click New Lead (or save a Google find from the map).
- Capture company, primary contact, phone/email, and lead source.
- Assign owner and first follow-up date.
- Work the lead with calls, tasks, and notes — log every touch.
- Qualify or disqualify with a short reason when the outcome is clear.
- Convert to an account when the prospect is ready to buy or onboard.
Conclusion & best practices
Do not leave leads parked forever — convert, disqualify, or schedule the next step. Google-sourced leads keep a place id so re-searching the same shop does not create duplicates. Conversion should preserve history into the account.
