How to change a work order progress status in POS Lite?
TB POS · work-orders · Last updated August 17, 2026 · Version 1
This process works in apps: TB POS, TB Books
This article will teach you how to update a custom shop status like Waiting on parts without invoicing the job.
Progress statuses are shop-floor labels your team manages in Books → Settings → Document Statuses. They appear next to Quote / Work Order / Invoiced on the Hub and work order screen. Changing progress does not create an invoice — Complete Order still finalizes billing.
Steps
- Ask an admin to add labels under Books → Settings → Document Statuses and check Work Orders.
- Open the Hub or the work order for that vehicle.
- Click the progress badge (not the Quote / Invoiced chip).
- Pick the new label, for example Waiting on parts or Completed.
- Confirm the badge updates on the row immediately.
- When the job is ready to bill, use Complete Order as usual. That stamps the closed default progress label (Completed unless you change it in Settings).
Conclusion & best practices
Use progress labels for what is happening in the shop. Invoiced still means the work order was converted to an invoice. Do not treat Completed as a substitute for Complete Order.
