How to import inventory data in WMS?
TB WMS · import · Last updated August 17, 2026 · Version 1
This process works in apps: TB WMS, TB Books, TB Sync
This article will teach you how to bulk-load catalog items and optional on-hand quantities via Data Migration.
Bulk catalog and quantity loads use Settings → Data Migration → Product Catalog — the same shared wizard as Books and Sync. The flow is upload → map fields → review → import. Quantity updates post as inventory adjustments; Books creates a journal entry for adjustment value when cost is mapped. Bin-level putaway still happens afterward in Inbound or Move.
Steps
- Go to Settings → Data Migration (Organization Settings).
- Under Imports, pick Product Catalog.
- Upload your Excel/CSV file.
- Map fields including Quantity for on-hand and Cost for valuation when needed.
- Review the preview for mapping errors on part numbers and sizes.
- On review, select the wms-locations warehouse, choose Update Only or Full Replace, then Confirm & Import.
- Use Inbound / Move afterward if stock must land in specific bins.
Conclusion & best practices
Full Replace can zero SKUs not in the file — use carefully. Quantity changes post as inventory adjustments; Books creates a JE for adjustment value when applicable. Importing quantity does not replace bin putaway — pallets still need an inbound session to be pickable.
