How to move inventory between bins in WMS?

This article will teach you how to relocate stock with a move session without changing ownership or total on-hand.

Move sessions relocate stock from one bin to another inside a location. Total on-hand stays the same; only bin placement changes for better picking or consolidation. Use moves for housekeeping after inbound puts pallets in staging — not for correcting true gain/loss (use adjustments or counts for that).

Steps

• Open Move from the WMS sidebar.
• Start a move session at the correct location.
• Scan the from-bin, SKU, and quantity you are moving.
• Scan the to-bin and confirm the destination makes sense on the floor map.
• Repeat for additional lines in the same session when consolidating.
• Complete the session to commit bin changes.
• Verify with Quick Lookup that the SKU shows in the new bin.

Use moves for housekeeping; use adjustments for true gain/loss. Completing partial consolidations as you go beats leaving an open session overnight. Moving to a nonexistent bin ID creates pick errors — create the bin in Bin Management first.
