How to post a stock adjustment in WMS?
TB WMS · adjustments · Last updated August 17, 2026 · Version 1
This process works in apps: TB WMS, TB Books
This article will teach you how to correct on-hand for damage, write-offs, or write-ups with a documented reason.
Stock adjustments correct on-hand when damage, theft, admin corrections, or one-off events require a write-up or write-off outside a count session. Reasons and notes matter for accounting and loss prevention — vague “fix” adjustments make month-end investigations painful. Books may post a journal entry when adjustment value applies.
Steps
- Open Stock Adjustments in WMS.
- Create a new adjustment for the active location.
- Enter SKUs, quantities, and direction (up/down).
- Provide a clear reason code or note (damage, scrap, found stock, etc.).
- Review impact on location totals before submit.
- Submit for processing per your permissions.
- Confirm Books inventory view if your role spans both apps.
Conclusion & best practices
Prefer counts for routine reconciliation and adjustments for exceptions. Vague reasons make month-end inventory investigations painful. Do not use adjustments to compensate for missed inbound/outbound completions — complete or void the session instead.
