How to switch the active warehouse location in WMS?
TB WMS · settings · Last updated August 17, 2026 · Version 1
This process works in apps: TB WMS, TB Sync, TB Books
This article will teach you how to change the header location so inbound, outbound, and lookups use the right warehouse.
All WMS sessions — inbound, outbound, move, count, lookup — use the active location from the header selector. Locations live in the shared wms-locations collection; WMS shows locations where wmsEnabled is not false. Switching orgs in the header resets location context, so re-select the warehouse after every tenant change.
Steps
- Open the location selector in the WMS header (desktop dropdown or mobile sheet).
- Pick the WMS-enabled location you intend to work in.
- Confirm the UI shows that location name as active.
- Run Quick Lookup on a known SKU to verify you are in the expected building.
- Start or resume inbound/outbound/lookup work under that location.
- If the location is missing, ask an admin to confirm it exists under Settings → Locations.
Conclusion & best practices
Make location checks muscle memory before scanning. Mis-located sessions are among the hardest inventory errors to unwind. Sync users must also pick Sync-enabled locations separately when ordering — WMS and Sync flags are independent on the same location record.
